- Gross profit margin climbs to 12.5 percent in first nine months (PY: 11.1 percent)

- Positive result for the period (9M: 0.30 million euros / Q3: 0.59 million euros)

- Forecast for full year 2015 confirmed

Karlsruhe, November 13, 2015 – asknet AG delivered a positive business performance in the first nine months of 2015. During this period, gross profits, the key performance indicator for the results of asknet Group, rose by 5 percent to 7.84 million euros (PY: 7.44 million euros). This increase was mainly attributable to the good performance in the third quarter of 2015, which followed a weaker first half-year and saw gross profits rise by 41 percent compared to the prior year period. The important gross profit margin (gross profits as a percentage of transaction revenues) also picked up notably from 11.1 percent in the prior year period to 12.5 percent, which is mainly attributable to the completion of more profitable projects. It should be noted that this increase was achieved although transaction revenues declined from 67.30 million euros to 62.85 million euros. Gross profits as a percentage of sales revenues, which dropped from 58.49 million euros to 55.13 million euros, increased to 14.2 percent, up from 12.7 percent in the previous year.

Gross profits in the Business Unit Academics showed a particularly positive trend and reached 3.38 million euros in the first nine months of the year thanks to profitable individual transactions. The Business Unit Digital Goods reported gross profits of 3.85 million euros, while the Business Unit Physical Goods posted 0.61 million in gross profits. Based on the much higher gross profits, asknet’s earnings also showed a positive trend in the first nine months. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), which amounted to -0.30 million euros at the half-year stage, turned positive at the nine-month stage and reached 0.30 million euros (PY: -0.20 million euros). Earnings before taxes (EBT) and after interest and taxes also amounted to 0.30 million euros.

asknet continues to expand its business activity to include new product and customer groups and to strengthen its presence in the individual target markets of its three business units, Academics, Digital Goods and Physical Goods. An important step in this context was the foundation of the new subsidiary, asknet Switzerland GmbH, in August 2015. The new sales office is explicitly assigned to the Business Unit Academics and facilitates closer and more customer-oriented contacts to the attractive Swiss university market. The aim is to clearly increase market shares in this region. The Business Unit Digital Goods closed several contracts with renowned new and existing customers in the third quarter, also on the basis of an extended product range. These include a contract for establishing and managing the affiliate marketing operations of Sage Software GmbH (Sage Group). The Business Unit Physical Goods also expanded its distribution activities significantly and even organized its own specialist event in Cologne, the eCommerce Round Table 2015.

Says Tobias Kaulfuss, CEO of asknet AG: “We are looking back on an excellent third quarter, which will not only drive our result for the full year 2015 but also motivates us for next year. We are now proving that the reorganization of the Group was an important step for asknet’s future. We will seize arising opportunities even more effectively and at the same time continue to increase our professionalism and efficiency even further. Our aim is for all three business units to deliver a sustained positive business performance in the coming years.”

The company confirms its 2015 forecast of nearly constant gross profits, balanced earnings before taxes (EBT) and a moderately higher gross profit margin.
