CollabNet deploys asknet eCommerce Solution

CollabNet’s first eCommerce platform offers single sign-on and scaled pricing model for subscriptions

Karlsruhe, March 3, 2009 – asknet AG, a leading provider of outsourcing solutions for the global electronic software distribution (ESD) industry, announced today that CollabNet  has deployed its first asknet-powered online store as part of openCollabNet (www.collab.net), an online community that supports its customers, partners and developers.

CollabNet is the leader in application lifecycle management (ALM) platforms for distributed software development teams and openCollabNet is the end-user and developer community platform for CollabNet Subversion and CollabNet Sourceforge Enterprise users.

Initially, the CollabNet Store (store.collab.net) will offer users the opportunity to purchase licenses for CollabNet Sourceforge Enterprise as well as training and support on the product in US$. Later releases of the CollabNet Store will include additional products and services as well as other currencies.

Through the asknet eCommerce solution, CollabNet offers trial versions and a unique on-demand license key technology to support license monitoring and the generation of personalized license keys.  The user experience is enhanced with a simplified single sign-on (SSO) process enabling openCollabNet community platform members such as prospects, customers, partners, and developers to readily access the asknet eCommerce system.

To meet increasing customer demand for an on-line store and accelerate time to new global markets, CollabNet chose to outsource the eCommerce channel.  CollabNet needed not only a flexible and scalable eCommerce platform, but an experienced eCommerce partner with global expertise to build the on-line channel. The ideal eCommerce partner would not only provide system and design expertise to integrate the CollabNet Store with the enterprise systems, but also go the extra mile to determine the best way to take CollabNet’s products online.

In asknet, CollabNet found the ideal partner to advise and counsel best practices for delivering software, subscriptions services, and various B2B offers unique to its market and customer base. “asknet’s eCommerce solution will allow CollabNet to reduce both the time and cost associated with sales, automate the sales process, and ultimately open up new online markets that weren’t accessible before," said Mike Bellissimo, vice president, services, CollabNet. “We selected asknet because of their agility in development, the flexible B2B support, and the global reach they provide.”

“CollabNet represents one more customer who benefits from our flexible and scalable asknet solution. We give our customers the tools they need to penetrate new markets and also offer variable support options, product bundles, and software subscriptions. CollabNet will be a strong and important customer for asknet, and we look forward to accelerating their eSales in the Digital Marketplace,” said Gerald Prior, chief executive officer, asknet.

In a separate press release, CollabNet also announced today openCollabNet membership milestones which include exceeding 200k members to its online community in its first 8 months.
